Second iWorkinSport Job Fair: scouting talent for the sports industry

The second edition of the “iWorkinSport Job Fair”, which took place in Lausanne on 18 May 2018, attracted 16 companies looking for best talent among more than 300 students from a variety of universities. This year, the event at the SwissTech Convention Center also opened up to students and alumni not belonging to the official academic partners. More than 60 jobs were on offer.

Jointly organised by ThinkSport and ENGAGE Sport & Entertainment, this annual international career fair tailored to the sports industry aims to enable renowned organisations in the market to meet, interview and recruit students and alumni from the most prestigious sport management courses in Europe.

How it works
Recruiters, including well-known companies and organisations like Adidas, FIFA, FIBA, IMG, Infront Sports & Media, the IOC, mycujoo, Nielsen and UEFA, announced, in advance, the positions for which they would be interviewing at the event. Graduates and alumni of the academic partners and beyond applied in advance for jobs they were interested in, via the event’s website. Recruiters then selected candidates they wanted to meet and organised a 20-minute interview for each of them at the event. After the event, the recruiters will now follow up with the candidates directly.

Dedicated conference programme
In addition to the hundreds of job interviews conducted during the day, the iWorkinSport Job Fair also hosted an exciting conference programme focusing on careers in the sports industry, on requirements of sport organisations, practical tips for CVs and job interviews etc.

Anna Hellman, Director of ThinkSport, presented about the value of the cross-sector network she and her team have built over the last two years. On the occasion of the second edition of the iWorkinSport Job Fair she said: “Many specialised schools and master programmes around us are important incubators for a qualified workforce that ensures our unique sports ecosystem in Lausanne, Vaud and across Switzerland continues to flourish. The ‘iWorkinSport Job Fair’ facilitates to get the right people into the right positions so they can drive progress in sport.”

ThinkSport also offers a job section on its website, featuring current employment opportunities within its rich network of sport organisations, research and development institutes, educational bodies, businesses, the public sector, international organisations and NGOs.
