World Olympians Association engages Olympians to drive social change projects

Many people love watching or taking part in sport and respect Olympians and their achievements. Olympians are often leaders and role models within their communities, with the ability to reach and engage people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds through sport.

The World Olympians Association (WOA), as the member organisation for Olympians worldwide, has been instrumental in empowering Olympians to use their status and expertise to deliver projects aligned with the promotion of Olympic values that serve communities large and small.

Joel Bouzou, President of WOA, explains: “Without a doubt Olympians have the power to inspire others through their passion, their drive and their will to succeed. When this energy is focussed on projects that aspire to make the world a better place, the potential of Olympians to make a genuine difference as leaders and as role models in their communities, comes to the fore.”

If you have a service to society project you want to be successful then think sport, think engagement and inspiration, think Olympians…and quickly get in touch with the WOA.

There are hundreds of projects involving Olympians already up and running. The WOA play its part in spreading the word and funding projects. Through its “Service to Society” grant programme, WOA encourages Olympians to fulfil their potential and make a positive difference to the lives of those around them. Now in its second year, the scheme has already successfully funded projects in Africa, Asia, Oceania and Europe.

From mini school Olympics to an Olympian–run chicken farm that raises money to fund the ongoing education of athletes, the projects embody the spirit of Olympism and provide a powerful demonstration of Olympians’ ability to make a lasting impact beyond the field of play.
