Dear friends of sport,

We have settled well into our new offices in the brand new Synathlon building on the University of Lausanne campus. Officially inaugurated last week, the building has a positive energy, with lots of bright, open spaces and good vibes all around. If you have not yet visited us at our new premises, we invite you to drop by soon.

We are, of course, hoping to see you at THE SPOT on 15-16 May! With less than three weeks to go before our pioneering new event, one that aims to galvanise innovation in sport, we are busy making final preparations. We promise participants an amazing experience: at any given moment during THE SPOT, you could find yourself in a conversation with a Nobel Peace Prize winner or an eSport athlete; piloting a drone or a virtual bobsleigh; or voting for the company of your choice in a start-up battle. You will be wowed by the cutting-edge technologies and innovative thinking of visionary companies, start-ups and academics, and will also learn all about new solutions in a host of fields such as data analytics, digital broadcasting, equipment and wearables, materials design, nutrition, and more. We are also proud of our line-up of world-class guest speakers from a broad range of sectors who will share their rich insights into a number of hot topics. For more information, check out the latest news about THE SPOT in this newsletter.

There are two other exciting events for sports-minded professionals taking place in Lausanne in the same week as THE SPOT. First up is Accelerate “Connecting Sport & Innovation” on 14 May, to which AISTS has invited federations and start-ups from the region with a view of fostering closer collaboration between these two sectors. Then on 18 May, the sports industry careers fair iWorkinSport will bring together, for a second time, some of the world’s leading sports organisations in the world and prospective candidates from top postgraduate sports management courses.

Let’s get inspired together and leave outdated ideas at the door!
