eSports on your doorstep

eSports has been making a lot of headlines recently and its fast-growing popularity has been mind-blowing to many. If you are curious to experience eSports first hand, then do not miss the Baloise International Gaming Show, to be held at the Beaulieu Convention Centre in Lausanne on 24-26 November 2017.

The event will see professional gamers compete in four different tournaments, among them FIFA 18. The Baloise International Gaming Show will also feature various forums, demos, an exhibition and a competition open to the general public. The organisers are expecting 10,000 visitors over the weekend and promise to deliver a festive new gaming event, which will be interactive and fun for both gamers and the general public.

eSports featured as a demonstration event at this year’s Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and also came up for discussion at last month’s Olympic Summit, organised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The Summit recognised the strong growth of eSports, especially among young people, and concluded that competitive eSports could be considered as a sporting activity, as gamers prepare and train for it with a similar level of intensity to athletes in conventional sports.
