Last call for applications: Prince Faisal bin Fahad Award

The application phase for the Prince Faisal bin Fahad Award, an international research grant program targeted at sports research projects related to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is still open until 15 February 2021.

The Award aims to support rigorous, intellectually ambitious, and technically sound research that is relevant to the most pressing questions and compelling opportunities in sports. The Award will allow researchers, or other entities like start-ups which work closely with researchers, to apply for funding of USD 80'000 to USD 120'000 to support their research / resulting solution during a period of 12 months. A total of USD 1,000,000 will be awarded.

The targeted fields of research are:

  • youth and grassroots;
  • coaching and education; and
  • public health.

The Leaders Development Institute oversees the award, and is an educational institution operating under the Ministry of Sports of Saudi Arabia, and is committed to developing the sports sector through research, innovation, and education.

An independent scientific committee, established by the International Academy of Sports Science and Technology (AISTS) based in Lausanne, will select the grant recipients.
