Move for a good cause – “Décrochons la Lune” to kick off soon

Here is your sporting challenge after the summer break: get out your trainers and help cover the distance of 380,000km which separate the earth from the moon – for your own well-being and to help support three good causes.

The initiative “Décrochons la Lune” [Shoot for the moon] will run from 27 August to 28 October 2018, the day of the Lausanne Marathon. It aims to promote physical activity among the general public, encourage a healthy and active lifestyle and fight against the harms of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). NCDs include cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular and chronic respiratory diseases as well as musculoskeletal disorders. It is scientifically proven that physical activity has an important role to play in the prevention of NCDs.

Every kilometre counts
Regardless of your age or level of fitness, you are encouraged to walk, run, cycle or swim, on your own, with your staff, your friends or your family: anything is possible and everything counts! You should get “sponsored” by your employer, colleagues, family and friends who commit to donate 1 CHF per kilometre achieved. Do it to improve your health, boost your workplace productivity and reduce absenteeism. But above all, do it for a good cause!

The funds raised will be distributed to three Swiss based charities:

  • COOKIE, which assists young elite athletes based in the area by providing them financial support and access to a network of champions and experts;
  • the Fondation Planète Enfants Malades, which helps hospitalised children and their families by offering recreational activities and advice;
  • Special Olympics Switzerland, whichdevelops sporting activities for people with intellectual disabilities in order to help them develop and excel through the means of physical activity.

Dedicated app to keep you going
This year, a dedicated app has been developed for all participants. With this app, you can choose your team, track your kilometres and funds as well as receive and share health tips.  You can download the app on www.decrochonslalune.ch.
