Overall Sporting Performance of Nations

This study tries to explain why some countries are performing “better” in terms of a number of overall sporting indicators not related only to elite sport, but also to sporting activities/participation and physical education.

This study to be financed by the Swiss NSF (National Science Foundation) aims at measuring the overall sporting performance of some nations such as Switzerland, France, Britain and The Netherlands, and tries to explain why some countries are performing “better” in terms of a number of overall sporting indicators not related only to elite sport, but also to sporting activities/participation and physical education. It will start in 2015.

It is based on the theory of evidence-based management (which has been used a lot in health and education policies) and should help nations to determine their financing of public sporting policies.
