Centre for Sport and Human Rights and ThinkSport announce 2-year strategic partnership

On the occasion of THE SPOT 2023, the Centre for Sport and Human Rights and ThinkSport are excited to announce a strategic partnership for 2023 and 2024, supported by the Swiss Government, to promote knowledge sharing, invoke creative thinking and build innovative projects to drive progress in the field of sport and human rights.

Building on their respective strengths, the organisations will work together to deliver ideation and innovation projects that address challenges and harness opportunities at the intersection between sport and human rights. The partners will use their major events in 2023 and 2024 - THE SPOT in Lausanne and the Sporting Chance Forum in Geneva to promote the outcomes of the partnership and highlight how multi-stakeholder collaboration and innovation are vital to developing a world of responsible sport. The Centre for Sport and Human Rights is a gold partner of THE SPOT 2023.

Plans are being developed to run a series of workshops over the next two years to bring together students, researchers, sports organisations, corporations, civil society, and other actors across the global sports ecosystem to tackle complex, multifaceted issues with practical, innovative solutions. By combining interdisciplinary thinking, creative problem-solving techniques, technology and responsible business practices in an environment primed for cultivation, the results are actionable outcomes and new partnership opportunities.

The world of sport and society at large face significant existential social and environmental threats and crises that can only be addressed with new and different ways of thinking, creating and actioning.  This partnership will address a broad range of people-centric topics that pertain to safety, inclusion, fairness, social purpose and shared value across the global sports ecosystem.

“The Centre for Sport and Human Rights and ThinkSport recognise that diverse groups of people, working in partnership for a common purpose, given the right opportunities, have the potential to create, build and evolve new and powerful ways of thinking and doing.  This partnership is simply about actualising innovation in and through sport for our common humanity,” said David Grevemberg, Chief Innovation and Partnerships Officer at the Centre for Sport and Human Rights.

Anna Hellman, Director of ThinkSport, added: “With the global situation and societal needs evolving every day, the sports world must be quick in anticipating new developments and finding sustainable solutions to pressing issues. We believe that our new partnership with the Centre for Sport and Human Rights can be a catalyst in bringing together the right thinkers to find new, efficient and responsible approaches in this important field.”
