Economic Impact Studies

Analysis of the economic impact of international sport organisations on Switzerland, the canton of Vaud and the Lausanne region.

These independent studies commissioned by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Canton of Vaud and City of Lausanne, analyzed the economic impact of the IOC and the International Sport Federations on the region for the period of the 28th Olympiad (2004 – 2007) and for the 29th Olympiad (2008 – 2011).

In addition, two other studies were undertaken. The first study focused on the intangible effects of the increased recognition of the city of Lausanne and the local population’s level of pride in hosting the IOC headquarters in their city. The second study focused on the local sport industry and business clusters, specifically understanding the critical mass of competences in research and development that sport clusters need to be considered comparable to other leading international clusters.
