Lausanne 2020 Olympic torch and Yodli to stop by UNIL campus

In the run-up to the next Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG), which will take place in Lausanne and the region from 9 to 22 January 2020, the Olympic torch was lit in Athens, Greece, on 17 September and is now on its way back to Switzerland. The Torch Tour will officially begin in the Olympic Capital on 21 September, from where it will depart on a 110-day journey. It will visit each of the 26 Swiss cantons and Les Tuffes in France, bringing the Youth Olympic spirit to local populations. The Torch Tour will include interactive activities for young people as well as an exciting programme about the Lausanne 2020 Games themselves, topped off with a ceremonial torch lighting by special guests including Olympians.

On 3 October, from 17 to 18h, the torch will come to the UNIL campus (Esplanade Amphimax) in the heart of Lausanne’s unique sport ecosystem. Everybody is invited to join in and share the Olympic spirit. You will meet athletes, the local organisers, academic experts from the UNIL, EPFL and CHUV involved with the YOG 2020 and last but not least…mascot Yodli.

Animated GIFs and a specially created “Flame” filter are available for fans around the world to get involved digitally in the Lausanne 2020 Torch Tour, and can be found on Giphy and natively on Instagram by searching for “Lausanne 2020”.
